About Lori Rice

Photographer, stylist, and writer in food and beverage, farms, and travel helping brands and growers tell a story fully aligned with their vision.

Instructor and mentor helping multi-passionate food entrepreneurs and creatives who are contributing to a better system for the foods and goods we consume to sustain enjoyable, fulfilling work.

Few things inspire me more than food and the culture that surrounds what, why, and how we eat. Photographing food and drink, the farms where our food is grown, and cultural food experiences through travel allow me to capture these beautiful moments whether they are halfway around the world or right in my own kitchen.

My work in photography is a passion that has evolved over the past 12 years. Every component of food, from growing and serving it to the environment it is enjoyed in, creates a special moment. My goal is to capture that moment; the moment that best tells the story that you wish to share.

Today I work with my clients through self-produced photoshoots to create original images that transform their narrative and fully align it with the vision of their brands and businesses.

I hold a MS in nutritional sciences and a BS in family and consumer sciences. My travel, living abroad, study of nutrition, recipe development, and writing have put me in touch with my creative side and the art of food culture. This all fuels my current work of capturing food with the camera and telling stories that resonate with brands and consumers.

Forever a multi-passionate entrepreneur, I round out my photography work with writing. I have fifteen years of experience writing for editorial publications, peer-reviewed journals, and cookbooks along with copywriting for in-store sales brochures, newsletters, blogs, and websites. I’m also the winner of a 2019 International Association of Culinary Professionals Food Writing Award.

About Lori’s Services

For Clients

PHOTOGRAPHY and STYLING

Lori Rice specializes in photography from the producer to the plate. She has worked with multiple food and drink brands and agriculture organizations to provide high-resolution photos for print and web. Lori collaborates with each client to produce photographs based on individual needs. She most often works as a one-person show from her home studio in California keeping costs to a minimum for her clients. She is also available for travel and on-site projects around the world.

WRITING

Lori provides a variety of credited and ghostwriting services for clients in need of content development in the areas of food, agriculture, and travel. This includes editorial articles, peer-reviewed journals, cookbooks, in-store sales brochures, newsletters, blogs, and websites. Occasionally recipe development accompanies these articles. Lori does also provide recipe development and testing as a stand-alone service.

BRAND CONSULTING

Photography is a huge part of creating a cohesive brand that reaches your ideal customer. Lori provides consultation to brands and businesses seeking direction for their brand vision from words to photos. Her clients also look to her for guidance in food trends and family-consumer sciences.
